Getting started

Follow these steps to add Vex to your server, set up tickets and post your support panel.

Add Vex to your server

  1. Open vertx.info/invite, or press Add Vex next to a server on the dashboard.
  2. Select your server and press Continue.
  3. Keep every permission selected and press Authorize.
Note Discord only lets you add a bot to servers where you have the Manage Server permission.

If you started from the dashboard, return to that tab. The server list updates within a few seconds. To update it straight away, press Refresh the list.

Log in to the dashboard

  1. Go to vertx.info/dashboard and press Log in with Discord.
  2. Check the name next to Logged in as. To use a different Discord account, open that menu and choose Switch account.
  3. Select your server. Servers with an arrow already have Vex; servers with a plus sign don't yet.

You can also run /dashboard in your server. Vex replies with an Open dashboard button that only you can see.

Complete the setup checklist

Until setup is complete, the Home page shows a checklist of what Vex needs before it can take tickets:

  • Panel channel: the channel where members open tickets
  • Pending Tickets category: where new tickets are created
  • Active Tickets category: where claimed tickets are moved
  • Support roles: the roles that handle tickets
  • Log channel: where Vex records support events
  • Transcript channel: where Vex saves a copy of every closed ticket
  • Panel posted in Discord

Press Create missing channels for me to have Vex create the two categories, the log channel and the transcript channel. Only Vex and your support roles can see them. Choose your support roles on the Tickets page.

If Vex is missing a permission it needs, Home shows a red notice listing them. Press Fix permissions and authorize Vex again with every permission selected.

Post your support panel

  1. Open Support panel.
  2. Choose the panel channel and edit the design. The preview shows the message as Discord will display it.
  3. Press Send to Discord.

To change the panel later, edit it and press Update panel. Vex edits the existing message instead of posting a new one.

Test it

Open the panel in Discord, choose an area and submit the form. Vex creates a private ticket channel, pings your ping roles once and posts the ticket message. Claim the ticket, then close it to check the transcript and rating.

Tip Next, add knowledge on the Vex AI page so Vex can answer common questions before members open a ticket.
Still stuck? Ask me in the Support Server and I'll help you out.
